I finally will get to meet shiney tonight aka shiney ben aka ben. Ben is as you remeber not to be confused with the Ben who is my plush twin brother but is rather the ben that Lyndsay met in Greece and is now down visiting for a couple months. We are going to meet at the Duke (ben, erica and myself) so that Lynds can pick us all up and we are going to go home to Grimsby for the weekend. I am hoping that the car ride home wont be awkward considering that Lyndsay and I used to date like 15 years ago but if there is awkwardness I am hoping it is of the "other People" variety and therefore entertaining to me somehow.
Sometimes I wish I was a little more common looking because I know that I will probably be a little intimidating to Shiney even though he is like 6'10. I know that I wouldn't like it if I was too meet my girlfriends x and he looked like me!
(because that would probably mean that she had dated my brother).
This weekend I am going back to Grimsby so that I can show Erica my sweet upper-lower-middle class home and also other niagara attractions including...
1. Niagara Falls: I used to hate the falls because when we first moved to the niagara region we had to go with every relative that would visit us so like 25 times in the first year. you would say a lot of stuff like... "WOW THAT IS A LOT OF WATER" and "CAREFULL NOT TO DROP YOUR CAMERA IN THERE"
anyway I have only been once in the last year so it might be fun although I am not sure about the maid of the mist (featuring a view of the falls from a different angle)
2. Beautifull Niagara Region Wine Country: Grimsby is simutaniously trying to promote itself as the "gateway" to the niagara wine region, and allowing all of the farmers to sell thier vinyards to housing developers. I worked in a winery tour center for 2 years. talk about drinking on the job!!! it was amazing sometimes that drunk ass ben and I were able to balance the cash at the end of the night.
3. The Winchester Arms Pub in Historic Downtown Grimsby: this may be more exciting for me...
4. Balls Falls conservation area: will probably be skipped.
5. The Niagara Escarpment: now THATS some good picknik grounds.
6. Niagara on the Lake: I like Niagara on the Lake but it is kind of embarressing how much it kicks Grimsby's ass in the "small niagara region towns" competition. in other news we are getting a WALLMART in Grimsby soon! please e-mail me your pipe-bomb recipies at lukepettigrew@yahoo.ca
7. Exciting local Grimsby flavour: the over-under on coke-heads hitting each other with beer-bottles for any given weekend is 3.
8. My High-school: my track and field pictures are still on the walls. I need to figure out a way to get this on the tour.
Also I cant wait to go swimming. In grimsby every 3rd house has a pool where as I havent been invited to go swimming once in freaking toronto (thanks a lot SUE PIERCE) our pool is probably 30 years old and 5 feet at its deepest but it still kicks ass especially if you like powerball.
