Hey everyone,

As some of you know I have decided to get a job this week. Yesterday I updated my resume on hotjobs and promised to fax a lady at a temp agency my resume. Today I e-mailed an advertising/PR headhunter and am going to fax my resume to the temp lady. I think that there is a 65% chance or higher that I will still be unemployed at the end of the day.
I mean does anyone actually know anyone who got a job through hotjobs? I am about to be sued because I used to work on thier account when I was employed 15 years ago but I do think these online job-sites are kind of like an elaborate charade that everyone participates in but no one really gets anything out of.
Its like when I was working and I would be in meetings (sometimes hotjobs meetings- thier offices are cool) and it would feel like no-one was actually participating in the meeting -ie pooling our collective brainpower to find a appropriate and common course of action to meet the goal(s) in question- but that everyone looked like they were participating. It kind of seemed like we were going through the correct steps but the outcome would be kind of predictible and should have negated the need for the meeting in the first place.

I think the real purpose of hotjobs (who by the way are just as good if not better than thier competitors) et all is too make me feel better about taking the afternoon off today to run sprint repeats in preperation for thursdays pick-up basketball game. Like someone is out there handeling my job search for me.

Other than this i think trying to find a job is like getting up early Sunday morning when you were a kid to go to church. I feel like I am doing tons of work towards a goal I dont really want to accomplish anyway.
I mean dont get me wrong I want a job its just that I would prefer one of those interesting rewarding highly paid jobs I keep hearing about.
